Privacy Policy

InternetNeeds is run by Daaf Heijnekamp, based in the Netherlands, who is responsible for your personal data (the “controller” under the GDPR). Questions or requests: info.internetneeds@gmail.com.

Your account. Your email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider, never readable by us), your username, and whether you post anonymously.

What you post. Needs (title, description, category, who it's for, example links and images), comments, solutions, the things you're building (stage, demo and code links) and your progress updates.

What you do. Your votes, likes, the Needs you build and the reports you file about content.

Technical data. Our hosting providers keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the service running and secure.

InternetNeeds is a public platform. Everything you post, and your username next to it, can be seen by anyone, including people who aren't signed in and search engines. If you turn on “post anonymously” in your account, “Anonymous” is shown instead of your username, and you don't get a public builder profile.

Images you upload are stored at a public web address. Don't upload anything personal or private.

Your email address is never shown to other people. Reports you file are private and only seen by moderators.

• To provide your account and the platform (legal basis: our agreement with you when you sign up).
• To keep the platform safe: preventing spam and abuse, and reviewing reported content (legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe platform).
• To show advertising that pays for the platform, and personalized advertising only with your consent (legal basis: consent).

Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a consent message from Google before advertising cookies are used, and can change their choice at any time through that message.

We use Google AdSense to show one ad at the bottom of Need pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We use a few services to run InternetNeeds:

• Supabase: database, sign-in and image storage.
• Vercel: hosting of the website.
• Google: advertising (AdSense).

Some of these companies may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, it is covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

We keep your account and what you post for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account data and the content you posted, except where we must keep something to handle abuse or meet a legal obligation.

Content removed by a moderator is hidden from everyone but kept for a while, so the decision can be reviewed or reversed. You can ask us to delete it permanently.

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• see the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
• have it corrected or deleted;
• limit or object to how we use it;
• withdraw your consent for advertising cookies at any time.

Email info.internetneeds@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

InternetNeeds is not meant for children under 16. Don't create an account if you're younger than 16.

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page, and mention important changes on the site.
