Terms of Use

InternetNeeds is run by Daaf Heijnekamp, based in the Netherlands. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. How we handle your personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

You need to be at least 16 to create an account. Keep your password to yourself: you're responsible for what happens with your account. One person, one account; don't create extra accounts to vote more than once or to get around a ban.

You keep the rights to what you post: Needs, comments, solutions, build updates and images. To run the platform, you give us permission to store, show and share it on InternetNeeds, to adapt it for display (such as resizing an image), and to show it when we present the platform, for example in a screenshot. This permission is free, worldwide and non-exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

Only post what you have the right to share. Images you upload must be your own, or you must be allowed to use them.

The point of InternetNeeds is that what's missing gets built. When you post a Need, you share the idea publicly, and anyone may build it, including commercially, without asking you or paying you. Posting a Need doesn't give you ownership of the idea or a share in what others build.

The same goes for builders: saying you're building a Need doesn't reserve it. Several people can build the same Need, and what each builder makes stays theirs.

So don't post an idea you want to keep confidential, such as a business plan or anything covered by an agreement with someone else.

Write in English, so people everywhere can find, read and vote on what you post. Imperfect English is fine. A Need in another language stays up, but a moderator may translate it into English (it then shows “edited by a moderator”) or remove it.

Don't use InternetNeeds to:

• post anything illegal, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
• harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, or post hateful or sexual content;
• spam, or advertise things that have nothing to do with the Need;
• share someone else's personal information;
• link to malware, phishing or other harmful sites;
• pretend to be someone else;
• manipulate votes or rankings, with extra accounts, bots or otherwise;
• disrupt the site, get around its security, or scrape it on a large scale.

Anyone can report content. Content that three people report is hidden automatically until a moderator has looked at it. We can hide or remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend or delete accounts that break them seriously or repeatedly. Think we got it wrong? Email info.internetneeds@gmail.com and we'll take another look.

You can support InternetNeeds with a donation on Ko-fi. A donation is a voluntary gift: you don't buy a product or a service, and it doesn't give you any extra rights on the platform. Ko-fi handles the payment under its own terms; refunds go through Ko-fi.

As a thank-you, supporters get a badge next to their name. Badges are symbolic: they never change how votes count or how Needs are ranked. We may change the badges or the amounts they start at, and remove a badge if it's misused (for example to impersonate someone).

You can message the person who posted a Need. Keep it about the Need, and follow the same rules as everywhere else: no spam, harassment or selling things that have nothing to do with it. Every message can be reported, and you can block anyone.

If you agree on building something, a price or anything else with another member, that agreement is between the two of you. InternetNeeds isn't a party to it, doesn't handle payments and can't guarantee anyone's work. Never share passwords, and be careful with paying up front.

Solutions, demos and code links lead to websites and apps that we don't run or check. Using them is at your own risk, and their own terms apply. The ads on Need pages are shown by Google.

You can delete your account at any time in your account settings. That removes your account and everything you posted.

InternetNeeds is offered free of charge and as it is. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise the site is always available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features, or stop the service; if we stop, we'll let you know on the site in advance where we can.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect damage, such as lost profit or lost data, caused by using the site or by content others post. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for intent or gross negligence.

When these terms change, we update the date at the top of this page and mention important changes on the site. If you keep using InternetNeeds after a change, the new terms apply.

Dutch law applies to these terms, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you use InternetNeeds as a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protection that the laws of your own country give you.
